Lifestyle magazine has launched its own car shopping app for its Australian readers.
The app lets you shop for a car for $60 or less, but you need to have a car in the US and have a US-registered driver.
The magazine’s CEO, Mike Eichelberger, said that while the app may be “fun”, the idea was to give US users a way to get the car they wanted without the hassle of waiting for a dealer to make an offer.
“We want to be part of the American experience,” Mr Eicheberger said.
The “retailer apocalypse” is about to kick in Mr Eichberger said that he hopes the app will help US consumers find the right car.
“The thing we have to keep in mind is, we are not in this to be a marketer for the US market,” he said.
“But we have seen over the last year, what’s happened in the auto industry, where the car is a luxury item for people who are wealthier and more affluent than the average American.”
So we think that there are people out there who would be interested in owning a vehicle that’s going to cost them less than that.
“There are very few car-centric markets that have not had this app.” “
I think it’s going really well in Europe,” he told the ABC.
“There are very few car-centric markets that have not had this app.”
The US car market has been growing rapidly in recent years.
“It’s going up by about 10 per cent a year, and the industry as a whole is now in a pretty strong position,” he added.
Mr Echberger said there were many people wanting to buy a new vehicle and he wanted to help them get the vehicle they wanted.
“If you want a new SUV, if you want to get into a BMW or an Aston Martin, if that’s something you are into, we would like to see you on our app,” he explained.
“That’s why we’ve built this app.
We don’t want to tell people that if you can’t afford it, then you shouldn’t go and buy it.”
A car for every $60 price range, the app uses the data from car ownership records to show which cars are most popular in each market.
Users can choose to buy or lease their cars and the app allows them to see how many are available in each location.
The app is currently only available in Australia and New Zealand, but the company hopes to expand to other markets as it develops the app.
